Official Prayer for the World Meeting of Families 2022

Heavenly Father,
We come before You to praise You
and to thank You for the great gift of the family.
We pray to You for all families
consecrated by the Sacrament of Matrimony.
May they rediscover each day
the grace they have received,
and as small domestic Churches,
may they know how to witness to Your presence
and to the love with which Christ loves the Church.
We pray to You for all families faced with difficulty and suffering
caused by illness or circumstances of which only You know.
Sustain them and make them aware
of the path to holiness upon which You call them,
so that they might experience Your infinite mercy
and find new ways to grow in love.
We pray to You for children and young people:
may they encounter You and respond joyfully
to the vocation You have in mind for them;
We pray for parents and grandparents: may they be aware
that they are signs of the fatherhood and motherhood of God
in caring for the children who, in body and spirit, You entrust to them;
and for the experience of fraternity
that the family can give to the world.

Lord, grant that each family
might live their specific vocation to holiness in the Church
as a call to become missionary disciples,
in the service of life and peace,
in communion with our priests, religious,
and all vocations in the Church.
Bless the World Meeting of Families.

Amen.

Novena Prayer to St Kevin, Confessor,
protector of Dublin and of animal, particularly birds. Memorial 3 June

O God, for the Christian education of the poor and the strengthening of the new generations in the way of truth, You raised up the holy Confessor, St Kevin, who was baptised, taught and buried by saints, and through him gathered together many souls in Your Church: grant, we pray You, that helped by his prayers and example, we may burn with zeal for Your glory in the salvation of souls, and become worthy to share his crown in heaven. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer before the Summer Holidays

Lord God, We put ourselves into Your hands, and pray that You will bless us and our families during the wonderful months of summer.
May we all help make our home a place of relaxation, joy, love, peace and safety.
May we be generous and considerate, not thinking only about ourselves, but helping others enjoy the blessings of summertime.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer to St Anthony of Padua • Memorial 13 June

O Holy St Anthony gentlest of Saints, your love for God and charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me (request).
O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms. The gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen.

Prayer of St Columba ( Colum Cille) • Feast Day 9 June

O Lord, grant us that love which can never die, which will enkindle our lamps but not extinguish them, so that they may shine in us and bring light to others.
Most dear Saviour, enkindle our lamps that they may shine forever in your temple.
May we receive unquenchable light from you so that our darkness will be illuminated and the darkness of the world will be made less. Amen.
